Thank you for your interest in our available dogs. We like to get to know the dogs in our care prior to posting them for adoption so if you do not see the dog you are looking for, feel free to put an interest form in telling us what you are looking for in a forever friend. We love to "match-make" and we may have a dog that is not yet posted that is perfect for you. Once we have an interest form from you, one of our staff will contact you (in 7 - 10 days) to discuss your needs in detail as well as the dog(s) you are interested in.
Please note, if you are unable to see the pictures of our dogs, your browser may not be up to date.
I am a sweet little girl looking for a family that will spend some time with me and get to know the real me. I am a bit shy / fearful to begin with, so will need some patience, but oh how you will be rewarded, as I am learning to enjoy being scratched / petted.
Breed: Italian Greyhound
Color: Gray/Silver/Salt & Pepper - with White
Age: 6 years
I LOVE TO RUN…running around the yard for no reason, other than to run, is great fun. My foster momma thinks that I would be really good in agility (with the right training) or with someone who likes to run / has an active lifestyle. I, also, like to dig, so if you want to your grass intact, you better provide me with a dig pit and teach me how to use it.
I have learned to really like my crate…it’s where I get fed and where I spend my time when my humans are not home or sleeping, I can be noisy when I see things out the window (other dogs, people, etc,) or when my family leaves, so an apartment might not be the best place for me to live. My foster mom was told that I’m not potty trained, but I have only had one accident since I came to live with her. I am a good girl and try really hard to tell her I have to go outside…she just has to be paying attention! Once I do get outside though, I like to take my sweet time taking care of my business!
I am good with dogs, in general, but I can be a bit of a bully / pushy with more timid dogs, but if I am told off appropriately, I quickly learn to be more respectful.
As I mentioned before, I can be a bit shy, so I would probably do best in a house with kids who are a little bit older (10yrs+) who can help me understand how to trust humans. Older kids would be better too, because I like to nibble on fingers…I’m not trying to bite I promise…that’s just how I greet my favorite humans.
ANYTHING I can CHEW! I don’t play with actual toys too much, but I am a training for the Canine Olympic Chewing team! I LOVE bully sticks, cow hooves and raw bones, but please don’t give me rawhide…that is not good for me. Be warned, you will have to put your shoes away, because every once and a while I will find a shoe that I want to “practice” on. I also like treat dispensing toys like Kongs, Chuckles and Bob-A-Lots…they reward me with treats, as I play with them…who wouldn’t like that!
I would really like a home with room to run (or a very active lifestyle), where I would be allowed on the furniture, and a family who will have the patience to me learn to not be so fearful / trust humans.
