Thank you for your interest in our available dogs. We like to get to know the dogs in our care prior to posting them for adoption so if you do not see the dog you are looking for, feel free to put an interest form in telling us what you are looking for in a forever friend. We love to "match-make" and we may have a dog that is not yet posted that is perfect for you. Once we have an interest form from you, one of our staff will contact you (in 7 - 10 days) to discuss your needs in detail as well as the dog(s) you are interested in.
Please note, if you are unable to see the pictures of our dogs, your browser may not be up to date.
I'm a sweet boy! I am looking for a partner in fun who can keep up with my energy and love of work! My foster Mom and Dad tell me I'm a very smart boy and I learn quickly. I've mastered lots of key training cues like 'sit', 'stay', 'lay down' and 'shake.' I need someone who will be patient and have a passion for working with a working dog like me. I'm crate trained and happy when bedtime comes. Give me a treat and I'll settle into my eight hours of snooze time. Then I'm ready to play tug-a-rope or squeak my Kong tennis ball or maybe just lay in the sun. Long walks and some time to run make me smile. A home with children 12 and up would be best for me.
Breed: Black Mouth Cur
Color: Brown/Chocolate - with Tan
Age: 4 years
I am a smart boy with lots of energy! I know all my basic cues. I am still working on my leash manners, along with learning some impulse control and am doing very well. I am crate trained and potty trained. I am not too sure about other dogs because I haven't really met any since being in my foster home.
I wish I knew! Because I've been my foster family's one-and-only all this time, I haven't had a chance to meet other dogs, but I think I'd like having a friend my own size.
I don't know this either, so “go slow” is probably the best bet. I'm a big guy who doesn't know his own strength, and I need to learn some manners so I don't overwhelm little ones. Since I'm just a teenager myself, though, I'd probably do best with older kids, 12 years old and up, with lots of energy.
I love my strong knotted rope for chewing and tug of war, as well as my Kong tennis ball and ring. I like eating my dinner out of a super-tough Kong sometimes, too. It slows me down to enjoy my meal and gives me some mental stimulation.
My ideal forever home would be with humans who can match my energy, have plenty of room for me to run and play, and are willing to bond with me through training. What seems like play for me (I have a fondness for feet and hands) are habits I need help to overcome. My foster friends have made big progress in helping me learn what's okay and what's not when it's playtime, but let's not stop now! With patience and consistency, I'm sure I can be your best boy ever! I'd also love a big backyard and a home with children 12 years old and up would be best for me.
