Thank you for your interest in our available dogs. We like to get to know the dogs in our care prior to posting them for adoption so if you do not see the dog you are looking for, feel free to put an interest form in telling us what you are looking for in a forever friend. We love to "match-make" and we may have a dog that is not yet posted that is perfect for you. Once we have an interest form from you, one of our staff will contact you (in 7 - 10 days) to discuss your needs in detail as well as the dog(s) you are interested in.
Please note, if you are unable to see the pictures of our dogs, your browser may not be up to date.
I am a very special boy with very special needs. I'm looking for a family that is willing to work with me and have lots of patience with me and some of my challenges. I'm also in high demand and some say it's because I'm so cute. Due to that high demand, I receive a lot of applications on a daily basis and the process of finding me a home is taking time. Please be aware that if you put in an application for me, it will take some time to work through our particular process and you will be asked to be patient with the wonderful people who are trying to find me my forever home. Thank you.I am a happy, sweet boy who wants nothing more than to snuggle up in your lap or on your chest. I enjoy being near the family, but if I am feeling grumpy or scared, I've learned to go into my crate so I can have some alone time. Although I am all about love, I sometimes get scared if I am approached quickly or am being handled in an uncomfortable or unpredictable way. I have made great progress with that in the short time I've been with my foster family, so I think I just need time to learn to trust my person. A home with older children, over 12, would be best for me. I love a daily walk, but it doesn't have to be too long for me to be happy. When I am happy I am all wiggles and bounce, and would love another doggy friend to play with!
Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie
Color: Silver & Tan (Yorkie colors)
Age: 3 years
I love to be near my people and doggy friends while I'm in the house. I am very friendly with all dogs I meet outside, although if I can't meet them, I might get sassy. I do very well on a leash and am housebroken! I like to meet new people too! I respond well to yummy treats and even know a couple of tricks like roll over and shake! I sleep the whole night through in my crate without a peep and will sometimes even go to bed earlier than the rest of the family. I have learned to like short car rides to the park and will jump into the car, but going fast on the highway is still unsettling to me.
I have been friendly and sociable with every dog I've met on walks or at the dog park, and get along very well with my current doggy roommates. I don't know about cats, but I don't seem to be particularly interested in chasing other small animals or toys.
I don't know if I like children but given my size and my fear of quick and unpredictable movements, I think I would do best in a home without small children. Only a home with children over 12.
I like cloth toys and the occasional Chuck It ball. I don't chase a lot of things, but it's nice to have something to chew on, like a stuffed toy or bone.
My ideal home would be one without small children, and people who I can get to know and learn to trust. I would like if they would take me for a daily walk around the neighborhood so I can keep updated on the goings ons. I would love another doggy friend and a small fenced backyard to run around in, but I would also be happy in a smaller space, if I got to go out regularly. My main priority is to be with my person, preferably close by them. No small children, please.
