General Socialization Notes:

I am very laid back, and love my family unconditionally.  I'll sit next to you on the couch, try to snuggle with you in bed and will follow you around just so I can see what you're doing.  Eventually I'll get bored and take a nap when nothing exciting is happening.  I am crate trained and potty trained, and love getting treats when I show good behavior.  I know how to sit and stay, unless there are unknown distractions around.  The doorbell and I are not friends.  I will consistently bark when I think there's 'stranger danger' coming into my home, only calming down when the supposed 'threat' is gone or I've adjusted to their presence.  Sometimes I need anxiety medication to help me stay calm and relaxed when people come over, or when we need to go to the vet. I would benefit from some training or behavior classes to help me with my anxious behaviors.  I have a sensitive tummy, and don't do well with people food.  

Does Rocky like other animals?

I have had some play dates with other dogs, but I get too amped up and usually annoy them with my barking or persistence to play.  I do well on my own, but would be open to other dogs, if they would want to play with me. I could also live as an only dog to get all the love.

Does Rocky like children?

I love the kids in my family, but I get anxious when unknown people, including kids, come into my home.  If I become familiar with them, I'll do better, but hopefully behavior classes will help me understand they are my friends.  I grew up with multiple children in the house and would probably do better with kids who are 10 or older, so they can understand my signals for when I get anxious.  If the kids in my home play hard, or get really loud, it can sometimes make me anxious.  

Favorite Toys:

I love chewing on flavored bones, specifically peanut butter ones.  I also like to play with any kind of chew toys and sticks along with tug-a-war toys. I love stuffed animals and snuggling in a blanket.  

Ideal Forever Home:

I would thrive in a home where people are home a lot and there are not a lot of visitors. I would do okay left alone for a few hours, once I adjust to your schedule, I can be left alone while you're at work, but when you get home, I'll want all of your attention.  I don't need a lot of outdoor space, so a small yard or deck would be okay.  I don't like being outside, unless you're with me, or we go for a walk, or it's a warm sunny day and I can sunbathe.  I am very chill, easy going and like to lay around, so I don't need a lot of stimulation, I just need companionship.  I could live with another dog or do just fine as an only dog. Older children would be best for me.
