Available Dogs

Thank you for your interest in our available dogs. We like to get to know the dogs in our care prior to posting them for adoption so if you do not see the dog you are looking for, feel free to put an interest form in telling us what you are looking for in a forever friend. We love to "match-make" and we may have a dog that is not yet posted that is perfect for you. Once we have an interest form from you, one of our staff will contact you (in 7 - 10 days) to discuss your needs in detail as well as the dog(s) you are interested in.

I'm looking for a soft place to land! I'm in special need of someone who will be patient, but provide structure, as I learn to be more confident, less emotional about life, and learn better general manners. Initially, it can be hard for me get to know and trust new people, but treats and toys are the way to my heart, and before long my sweetness will shine through and I will be begging for belly scratches and ear rubs.

General Socialization Notes:

I do display some separation anxiety behaviors, when my trusted human is not around and/or is coming back home after being gone for a while. Because of my big “emotions”, I would NOT be a very good candidate for apartment living.

Does Ziggy like other animals?

I can have “big emotions” when I see other dogs/cats while I'm in my crate or out for walks. I'm generally ok with most other dogs, but I don't play with them (I'm kind of awkward with them really) and don't like to share MY STUFF. I have lived with other dogs and prefer smaller, less enthusiastic interactions, if any at all, and would totally be ok as an only dog. I have been around cats, and for the most part (other than yelling at them while in my crate), I'm ok, but sometimes I forget my manners and chase them.

Does Ziggy like children?

Because of my small size and my human trust issues, I would do best with no children under 12yrs old.

Favorite Toys:

Small toys, big toys, hard toys, soft toys, squeaky toys…I love them all and will destroy them if given a chance. Giving me cow hooves and bully sticks helps me not to chew on my toys to the point of destruction. Project toys like Kongs, are amazing too. I have a tendency to protect (and try to hide) my toys and chews, so I am learning how to trade my toys for cookies when my trusted human wants them (I don't growl or bite, but I am uncomfortable about my toys / chews getting taken away).

Ideal Forever Home:

I'm looking for a special home who will continue to help me learn better general manners and how to deal with big emotions. I need a patient person who is willing to work to bond with me. We can build that bond and be best friends.
