💻  Administration/Technology


  • Office Assistants - Year round commitment.  Assist the Office Manager in general office duties such as filing, phone calls, paperwork, computer/data entry.
  • Facility Maintenance Volunteers - year round commitment.  Assist Facility Manager in general maintenance such as cleaning, repair, inventory, supplies, stocking.
  • Website Link Volunteer - year round commitment.  Research new links, search engines, etc. to add to website and maintain other national data base websites.
  • Website fundraising - year round commitment.  Research different ways to raise funds using the web.
  • Facebook - year round commitment.  Update our Facebook page.
  • Twitter - year round commitment.  Contribute to our Twitter feed.

💸  Fundraising


  • Fundraising Director - year round commitment. Oversee and trouble shoot the Fundraising/Corporate Sponsor development, be familiar with all positions in this department, fill in for positions as needed, assign and train new volunteers in this department, report to the board on this department. Hold Corporate Sponsor/Fundraising meetings. 
  • Community Campaign Coordinator - July-December heaviest commitment. Attain spots in various fundraising campaigns, both nationally and locally, including IndyGive!, Colorado Gives, etc. Work with the Distribution Coordinator on Yearly Mailer. Reports all activity to Fundraising Director. Attend meetings held by Fundraising Director
  • Community Campaign Volunteers - July-December heaviest commitment. Work in the various campaigns and deliver materials to location.
  • Corporate Sponsor Coordinator -  January-September heaviest commitment. Attain Corporate Sponsors for ABRT events, and programs, meet with businesses/corporations to acquire ongoing sponsorship, work with Marketing to create Corporate Sponsor Packages, send Thank You notes, letters, gifts, etc. to all businesses and Corporate Sponsors that donate money to ABRT, keep track of all Corporate Sponsors and report all activities to Corporate Sponsor/Fundraising Director, Attend Meetings called by Director.
  • Fundraising Supervisor - year round commitment. Oversee and trouble shoot Fundraising department, be familiar with all positions in this department, report all activities to the Corporate Sponsor/Fundraising Director, Attend Meetings called by the Director, oversee all fundraising activities. Calls and holds meetings for the Fundraising department as needed. Brainstorm and create new fundraisers for ABRT
  • Online Fundraising Coordinator - year round commitment.  Set up fundraising through online sources and web site. Research new ways to raise funds through the web and through ABRT web site. Work with the Technical Director to set up Fundraising on our website. Keep track of all online fundraising and report all activity to the Fundraising Supervisor. Attend meetings held by the Fundraising Supervisor
  • In Kind Donation Coordinator - year round commitment. Coordinates all in kind donations. Arranges for in kind donations for fundraisers, raffles, auctions, etc. Writes receipts and Thank You notes to all donors. Researches different business who will donate in kind goods including items for the foster dogs i.e.: blankets, collars, leashes, dog food, training equipment etc., items for the facility and the office, i.e. office equipment, office supplies, etc. Return calls to potential donors who have in kind goods to donate. Arrange pick up of in kind goods. Keep track of all donors and what the donated. Report all activity to the Fundraising Supervisor. Attend meetings held by the Fundraising Supervisor

  • Major Events Chairs - Coordinate and run major events.  Report activity to Fundraising Supervisor.
  • Doggie Dash - April-June commitment
    • Marketing: Social Media, Press Release, Radio and Television spots, etc.
    • In Kind Donators: Solicits items for grab bags and prizes
    • Booth/water stations: Acquire sponsors for water stations
    • Workers: Set up, run, and tear down
  • Gala - August-October commitment
    • Chair: filled
    • Marketing: Social Media, Press Release, Radio and Television spots, etc.
    • Speaker Liaison: Obtain and negotiate speaker for event, coordinate all details (hotel, flight, transportation, etc.) for speaker
    • Desserts: Obtain and deliver desserts to location
    • Workers: Set up, run, and tear down
  • Whine & Cheese - August-November commitment
    • Chair: filled
    • Marketing: Social Media, Press Release, Radio and Television spots, etc.
    • Auction Donator: Acquire items for live and silent auctions
    • Workers: Set up, run, and tear down
  • Monthly Wash-a-thon - year round
    • Chair: Coordinate time and location at dog washing facilities (Wag ‘n’ Wash)
    • Marketing: Social Media, Press Release, Radio and Television spots, etc.
    • Workers: set up, run, and tear down
  • ROMP in the Park - March-August commitment
    • Chairs: Filled
    • Vendor: Obtain, compile lists, and do follow-ups on potential vendors, help them with Day-of Coordination
    • Rescue Group: Obtain, do follow-ups on rescue groups, held with Day-of Coordination
    • Raffle Baskets: Collect all supplies needed for raffles, coordinate with Sponsor/Vendor teams for donations
    • Marketing: Design ads/fliers, signs, t-shirts, coordinate press releases, community calendars, radio, TV, and billboards
  • Meet N Greet Booths
    • Coordinator – year round (heaviest May-September). Oversees and troubleshoots Meet N Greet Booths – Coordinates all Meet N Greet Booths – publishes Meet N Greet schedule – arranges for booth runners for each booth – seeks opportunities for new places to hold Meet N Greet Booths – making sure booth is well stocked with supplies – reports all activity to Program Director – attends all meetings held by Program Director
    • Booth Runners – year round (heaviest May-September). Responsible for running the Meet N Greet Booths, answering questions, set up and break down of the booth – transferring paperwork to the appropriate volunteers – transferring booth supplies to next runner – ensures that the dogs at the booth are handling it well, and sends home any dogs that are not – ensures handlers are working with the dogs who did not do well at the booth to Foster Dog Evaluator and reports any dogs that do not show up to their shift to the Meet N Greet Dogs Available Planner – reports all activity to Meet N Greet Booth Coordinator and attends meeting held by Meet N Greet Coordinator
    • Booth Foster Dog Planner - year round (heaviest May-September). Schedules approved dogs available to attend the Meet N Greet Booths – follows up on any dogs that were scheduled who did not show up to booth – reports all activity to Meet N Greet Coordinator – attends meetings held by Meet N Greet Coordinator
    • Dog Holders/Transporters – year round (heaviest May-September). Transports and/or holds approved dogs available for shifts at the Meet N Greet Booths – works with the dogs at the booth and displays the dogs in a positive manner – reports any dog that is not doing well in the booth environment to the Booth Runner – attends meetings held by Meet N Greet Planner.

🐕  Adoption


  • Adoptions Coordinators – year round commitment.

    Oversee all adoptions including screening adoption applications and adoption candidates – be familiar with all dogs in foster and what each dog needs for a successful adoption including and special adoption requirements as described by the foster home or by the Behavior and Training Supervisor.

    Arrange and follow up on meetings between foster home and dog and potential adopters – arrange for home checks and confirm all PAW attendance – Ensure adopters acquire vet/medical/training/profiles/tag/etc. from Foster Manager and arrange transfer of this material to new home – release dogs from foster home to new home – make sure all contracts are signed including any special contract that is needed. Collect and hold adoption fee until adoption is final, turn in adoption fee to Office Manager

    Ensure adoption protocol is followed throughout the adoption process – offer support during the first 7 days and do 7 day phone follow up – send out adoption report to Office Manager, Community Relations Specialist, Foster Supervisor, Technical Director and Program Director – turn in all final paperwork to Adoption Supervisor – attend meetings called by the Adoption Supervisor + Foster Dog Supervior. Keep Medical Record up to date.

  • Home check Volunteers – Perform home checks for Adoptions Coordinator on potential adopters – fill out appropriate paperwork – turn in paperwork to Adoptions Coordinator – attend meetings called by Adoption Supervisor
  • Adoption Phone Counselors – year round commitment. Perform 30 day – 6 month – 12 month – 2 year – 5 year – 10 year follow up calls on all dogs adopted from ABRT – maintain database with phone report on each adoption. Report all information on each follow up call to Adoption Supervisor – attend all meetings called by the Adoption Supervisor
  • Pet Selection/Matching Counselor – year round commitment.  Interview clients who are looking for a companion and help them select the right dog depending on answers – aide them in finding the correct rescue group, breeder, shelter, etc. for what they are looking for and what their answers reveal – be very familiar with every foster dog in ABRT and the adoption requirements for each dog – return phone calls from clients that are looking to adopt nonspecific dogs or specific breeds, size, etc. – Report all activity to Adoption Supervisor – attend all meetings called by the Adoption Supervisor
  • Foster Dog Coordinator – year round commitment. Interview potential foster homes. Performs home checks on all potential foster homes and keeps track of all paperwork – provides training for all new foster homes including an updated Foster Dog Training Manuel – works with Shelter Dog Evaluator to place dogs in appropriate foster homes – ensures fosters have all appropriate items needed for fostering i.e. crates, collars, leashes, bowls, blankets etc. – reports all activity to Foster Dog Supervisor – attends meetings called by Foster Supervisor
    • Foster Homes - Responsible for all care of an in home foster dog including but not limited to: taking the dog to vet visits – arranging for meetings with potential adopters – attending foster dog training classes – arranging for dog to attend booths as needed – etc. – attend meetings called by the Foster Dog Supervisor
    • Emergency Foster Homes - Responsible for all care of an in home foster dog for a short period of time, from 3 days to 3 weeks.

🐕‍🦺  Training


  • Education Supervisor – year round commitment. Oversee and trouble shoot the Education Department. Familiar with all positions in this department, and trains new volunteers in this department. Searches for venues in the community for Education Seminars and assigns and schedules these opportunities to the correct educator. Works with other organizations on National Education campaigns. Reports all activity to Program Director. Attends meetings held by Program Director.
  • Dog Bite Prevention Educators – year round commitment. Creates seminars on Dog Bite Prevention for different audiences from children to Businesses – present seminars as assigned by the Education Supervisor – keep up to date on the latest information on this topic and incorporate this information in the presentation – work with local, state, and national organizations and officials on Dog Bite Prevention laws and issues – work with other organizations for community wide educational campaigns – Report all activity to the Education Supervisor – attend Meetings called by Education Supervisor.
  • Legislation Educators – year round commitment. Create seminars on legislation with a focus on Breed Specific Legislation for different audiences from children to community to government officials – present seminars as assigned by the Education Supervisor – keep up to date on the latest information on this topic and incorporate this information in the presentation – work with local, statewide, and national officials on legislative issues – work with other organizations for community wide educational campaigns – Report activity to the Education Supervisor – attend meetings called by the Education Supervisor.
  • ABRT Educators – year round commitment. Create seminars on ABRT for different audiences from children to community – present seminars as assigned by the Education Supervisor – keep up to date on the latest information on this topic and incorporate this information in the presentation – Report all activity to the Education Supervisor – attend meetings called by the Education Supervisor
  • Pet Awareness Workshop Educators – year round commitment. Teach the one hour Pet Awareness Workshop for potential adopters – people in the community – new adopters from other sources – etc. – report all activity to the Education Supervisor – attend meetings called by the Education Supervisor
  • Dog Trainer Apprentice Program - Student Instructors, Student Assistants, Student Behavior Counselors. Learn to train people and their dogs. Free program with commitment of volunteer hours. Trains foster dogs in foster dog training classes and in private training to help the foster dogs become more adoptable and have good manners going into their new homes – works on socialization, basic cues and good manners with an assigned foster dog during classes or in private lessons as prescribed by the Foster Dog Evaluator and/or the Foster Dog Class Instructor – Attend/work events held by ABRT. Assist instructors with their classes as needed.

    • Team – Maintain equipment, Demos, Free runs (fundraising), (Build/Agility) Workshops (Services)
  • Therapy Dog Team (all members have a Therapy Dog) – year round commitment
    • Captain – Coordinate and run Therapy Dog visits at Library, Senior Center, Assisted Living, Hospitals, Schools, etc.
    • Team - Work in the Therapy Dog visits
  • Demo Dog
    • Captain – Coordinate and run all Demo Events
    • Team – Run Rally/Freestyle/Tricks/Obedience, have a dog that can demonstrate at least one of these demos

📝  Marketing


  • Marketing Director – year round commitment. Oversee and trouble shoot the marketing sector, to search out new opportunities for marketing, and to assign new volunteers to marketing positions – attend ABRT Director’s meetings
  • Dog Marketing Coordinator – year round commitment. Responsible for seeking out marketing opportunities to advertise our dogs available and making sure our dogs are advertised on radio, television, periodicals and any other means of advertising such as posting available dogs at different business locations, etc. – reports all activity to Marketing Director – attends meetings held by Marketing Director
  • Dog Description Writer – year round commitment. Responsible for writing up and up keeping current descriptions for all available dogs listed on website, and descriptions used in other marketing – contacts foster homes to get most accurate information on each dog so that all descriptions are current – and updates the descriptions as needed – reports all activity to Dogs Available Marketing Coordinator. Attends meetings held by Dogs Available Marketing Coordinator.
  • Programs Marketing Coordinator – year round commitment. Responsible for seeking out marketing opportunities to advertise all of our programs and making sure our programs are advertised on radio, television, periodicals, and any other means of advertising such as brochures and flyers at different business locations, etc. – reports all activity to Marketing Director – attends meetings held by Marketing Director
  • Materials Coordinator – year round commitment. Responsible for the upkeep and stocking of all ABRT marketing materials such as Fact Sheets, information sheets, brochures, flyers for events, etc. – assigns jobs to Graphic Artists and Photographers – report all activity to the Marketing Director – attend meetings held by Marketing Director
  • Graphic Artists – year round commitment. Responsible for the design of all materials needed by ABRT – report all activity to the Materials Coordinator – attend meetings held by Materials Coordinator
  • Photographer – year round commitment.Takes photos for website of dogs available, events, for use in marketing materials etc. – reports all activity to the Materials Coordinator – attend meetings held by Materials Coordinator
  • Distribution Coordinator – year round commitment. Responsible for the distribution of all marketing materials including but not limited to brochures, flyers, posters, dogs available sheets, Doggy Tales, bulk mailers, etc. – assigns volunteers to distribution materials – work with the Community Campaign Coordinator on Yearly Mailer – in charge of all bulk mailers – report all activity to the Marketing Director – attend meetings held by Marketing Director
  • Distribution Volunteers – year round commitment. Distributes Marketing Materials as assigned by Distribution Coordinator – report all activity to Distribution Coordinator – attends meetings held by Distribution Coordinator
  • Bulk Mail Volunteers – heaviest commitment in June. Puts together and mails all bulk mailings as assigned by Distribution Coordinator –  reports all activity to Distribution Coordinator – attends meetings held by Distribution Coordinator
  • Doggie Tails Newsletter Editor – year round commitment
  • Doggie Tails Advertising – year round commitment. Responsible for obtaining advertising in Doggy Tales Newsletter from businesses and other sponsors – reports all activity to Editor – attends meetings held by the Editor
