Available Dogs

Thank you for your interest in our available dogs. We like to get to know the dogs in our care prior to posting them for adoption so if you do not see the dog you are looking for, feel free to put an interest form in telling us what you are looking for in a forever friend. We love to "match-make" and we may have a dog that is not yet posted that is perfect for you. Once we have an interest form from you, one of our staff will contact you (in 7 - 10 days) to discuss your needs in detail as well as the dog(s) you are interested in.

I just want to be around you! I am a leaner, a cuddler, and a squisher (seriously, I want to plop all 100+ hairy pounds right on top of you!). I'll wait by the window for you to get home and would be happy to jump onto your bed each and every morning, if I'm not already on it to begin with. Just know that I might get pretty frustrated if you're home and I'm not allowed to be with you. I have never met a dog that I don't like, and I can play with other pups for hours. I get laughed at sometimes because I can be a little clumsy, and some people think I'm weird because I'm not a fan of meat or other things that most dogs drool over - I would be happy to split a banana or munch on some carrots/cucumber/broccoli with you, though. I adore car rides and getting to go places, and I always seem to make people smile when they see me out and about.

General socialization notes:

I am great with other dogs, but I can be a bit much for some of them since I am so big and ready to play. With people, I can take a little bit more time to really warm up, and am not afraid to let you know when I'm feeling overwhelmed. I was found in a mine when I was rescued, and I didn't really want to come out, so I still like to have my own private, dark place (crates work well!) to go to when I need some time to myself. I don't enjoy having my toes touched, and I need to know you before you start to play with my amazingly fluffy tail, but I'm a huge fan of getting head and belly scratches.

Does Oslo like other pets?

I love other dogs and would be over the moon to have a playmate in my new home. I don't have much experience with cats, so it might be best if I go to a home without any.

Does Oslo like children?

I like older children who are experienced with dogs and will be able to respect my boundaries. Due to my size (and lack of gracefulness), teenagers would probably be best.

Favorite toys?

I love to chew on and carry around my plastic food bowl, and I am always excited about things that squeak. I'll chase after a ball - though sometimes only the first few times you throw it - and will zoom around the house or yard when I get something exciting in my mouth. I've been told that some of the things I try to play with - cardboard, branches, hands, blankets, etc, - aren't appropriate toys, but what can I say; I don't discriminate!

Ideal Forever home?

I'm a big boy who is so ready for a home where I can settle down and really get comfortable. I need a family who will give me the time I need to warm up to my new environment and won't be offended if I tell them that I need my space for a little while. I'm used to being allowed on furniture and having another dog to play with, and would love if that doesn't have to change. I can get pretty excited on walks and have a habit of taking things off of counters (its not my fault they're right at head height!) so I'm hoping my new people are prepared for that and won't get too frustrated if things end up in my mouth that aren't supposed to be there.

I want to adopt Oslo!
